High Street Birmingham

This project was brought to us following the previous contractor being removed from site after painfully slow progress.

The project comprised of six floors which needed circa 200 tonnes of large steels (610 x 229) to be inserted into an existing building and raised to the underside of the 4.5m high floor. With a very low ground bearing pressure, the previous contractor had opted to back prop the whole building with Acro ’s at 1m square centres throughout !!! Other trades were unable to function.

We immediately looked to get rid of the propping by splicing the steel into small handle able pieces, and freed the job up. We also utilised some special liquid epoxy sacrificial jacks which were pumped up under hydraulic force to stabilise the building and ensure the heavy load was transmitted without fear of cracking the weak concrete.
